
New Vision Foundation (NVF) is the charity and social enterprise arm of New Vision Printing and Publishing Company Limited. It is an independent legal entity registered with the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) as a Company Limited by Guarantee Without Share Capital. Its incorporation in 2024 was a culmination of five years of consultations on the need for an independent entity to drive Vision Group’s Corporate Social responsibility (CSR) agenda unfettered by ownership and profit motives.
Indeed, the Foundation was birthed as a result of successful implementation of projects to enhance society by New Vision since 1986 when the company was established.

Organization Structure:
- The Foundation is headed by a Board of Trustees comprised of three eminent personalities of impeccable integrity. The membership may be expanded to incorporate any donors and philanthropists who may wish to be represented on the board
- The board is the supreme organ responsible for the policy direction of the Foundation. It decides the management structure and appoints the senior management team for efficient operations of the Foundation. It also approves the Foundation budget, annual workplans and any other policies and legal instruments. The head of the management team shall be the board secretary.
- The board vets all potential partners and approve all grants allotted to grant recipients. Membership on the board is voluntary. The members do not receive any emoluments save reimbursements for costs incurred when on the Foundation duties.

Patricia is an accomplished academic, communication specialist and administrator. With a PhD in communications from the University of East London, UK, Patricia taught at Makerere University before joining the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development as the Assistant Commissioner responsible for communication and public relations. She also currently serves as a member on the New Vision Printing and Company Limited board.
Gervase is a seasoned accountant, auditor and administrator with a Master of Business Administration degree from Edinburgh Business School, UK. He is currently the Deputy Managing Director/Company Secretary New Vision Printing and Publishing Company Limited.
Barbara is an experienced media manager, mentor with a passion for development journalism. With a Masters degree in Journalism and Media Studies from Rhodes University, South Africa, Barbara has solid track record of editorial innovations that have enhanced the Ugandan society and beyond. She is currently the Editor-in-Chief and Head of Content generation at Vision Group.
Our Projects & Experience
The Foundation was a result of Vision Group’s 39 years of experiencein delivering strong and transformative CSR programmes that drive societal progress. The Foundation believes in resilient communities through advocacy and interventions in high-impact sectors including, but not limited to: education, health, sustainable and climate smart agriculture; environment conservation and gender equality, diversity and inclusion.
This expertise uniquely positions the Foundation with the ability to design and execute programmes and campaigns that foster awareness, behavioral change and adaptation to sustainable approaches to development across a variety of stakeholders.
Through Vision Group, the Foundation, using a team of highly skilled and creative team, has successfully delivered the following projects over the years.
The Media in Education Project: 2001 to date
The programme has benefitted over a million learners in over 1,000 schools.

Teachers Making a Difference: 2008 to date
Teachers Making A Difference is part of New Vision’s Ugandans Making a Difference project. The project recognises and rewards teachers who have innovatively used limited resources to impact their learners and the school communities.
Since 2017, the project has been implemented in partnership with the Embassy of Ireland in Uganda and Travelcare.

The Best Farmers Competition: 2014 to date
Implemented since 2014, the project objective is to promote farming as a strategy to fight the high unemployment in the country by showcasing successful farmers.
The project is implemented in partnership with dfcu Bank, the Royal Netherlands Embassy, KLM Airlines and Koudjis.




The Green Schools Initiative: 2023/2024
This project used the school system as a vehicle to sensitise the public to take action on climate change. With support from the Embassy of Sweden through the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation, the project impacted over 220,000 students in 130 secondary schools across the country.



The Women Achievers Project: 2005 to date
The Woman Achievers project is part of New Vision’s Ugandans Making a Difference project. The project celebrates those women who through innovation have initiated projects or interventions that have positively impacted on their communities.
The Pakasa Youth Awards: 2008 to date
The Pakasa Youth Awards promotes innovation by recognising youth who have not resigned to fate but have set up enterprises to create jobs for themselves and for others. The project has in the past received support from the Embassy of Korea, the Chinese Embassy, the Ruparelia Group and Centum of Kenya.



Access to Justice and Human Rights: 2019/2020
The Access to Justice and Human Rights Promotion is a sh1.4b project being implemented with support from the Democratic Governance Facility (DGF). It provides a platform for the masses to highlight human rights abuses, exposing gaps and corruption within the justice system.

Save Uganda, Plant a Million Trees: 2016
In partnership with the National Forestry Authority, this project was one of the many CSR activities to commemorate NVPPCL 30th anniversary, accompanied by a strong editorial campaign across all Vision Group platforms with a call to the public to undertake tree planting.


Save Lake Victoria: April to June 2013
This three-month campaign across all Vision Group media platforms investigated and highlighted the deteriorating state of Lake Victoria and prompt actions that needed to be taken to prevent its death.

The Clean Towns Project: Sept 2013 – March 2014
The Clean Towns project highlighted the failure by urban authorities to live up to their mandate and the challenges they faced in their quest to offer social services. An independent jury of experts selected the cleanest towns for recognition.
Citizens’ Action and Engagement Project: 2013 – 2015
This three-year project was implemented with a $300,000 support from Twaweza Hivos. The project highlighted shortfalls in public service delivery and provided a platform for citizens to engage with their leaders.
